Charleston, W.Va. -- The West Virginia
Department of Agriculture (WVDA) will be hosting Ag Safety Days November 8-9 at
the Monongalia County WVU Extension office in Morgantown. The event is
free and open to the public. Credits are available for West Virginia licensed
pesticide applicators for some courses.
“Technology and best
practices are always changing. These continuing education events are important
to ensure applicators are using up-to-date methods,” said Commissioner of
Agriculture Kent Leonhardt. “This is a great opportunity to meet necessary
requirements for these occupational licenses.”
Over the two days,
courses will be offered covering: pesticide toxicity and exposure
reduction, worker protection standards (WPS) requirements and training procedures,
tractor safety, ATV safety, respiratory protection, respirator fit testing,
lock out/tag out safety protocols, ladder safety and fall protection, IPM and
pesticide formulations, FSMA update and CPR/First Aid.
