Charleston, WV – After
one year in office, West Virginia Commissioner of Agriculture Kent Leonhardt
will announce his vision for agriculture, as well as his legislative priorities
for the upcoming session. Commissioner Leonhardt will lay out lessons learned,
steps forward for the West Virginia Department of Agriculture (WVDA) and
legislative requests from the West Virginia Legislature. These requests
include: funding for the WVDA Veterans and Warriors to Agriculture program,
structural government changes to reduce barriers on West Virginia producers and
the transfer of the Division of Forestry to the WVDA. The press conference will
take place Monday, January 8th at 10:30 a.m. in the Governor’s Conference
room at the West Virginia State Capitol.
