Annual WV Maple Syrup Producers Association Meeting Set for May 20

Charleston, W.Va. – The West Virginia Maple Syrup Producers Association will meet Saturday, May 20 for their annual meeting and maple competition. The event will take place in Glenville, at the Gilmer County Recreation Center in Shawnee Hall from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The morning session features educational training, including a visit from Commissioner of Agriculture Kent Leonhardt.
“Maple Syrup is burgeoning business in West Virginia. From new producers just getting their operations off the ground to seasoned maple makers who are moving into new markets, the industry continues to expand,” stressed Leonhardt.
A pot luck lunch will begin at noon. Those attending are asked to bring a dish to share. The annual Maple Competition and Awards will follow. Producers can enter their maple products, from syrup and cream to candy and sugar, to be named best in West Virginia. The judges will be looking for flavor, color and appearance.
